Overview 
More common south of the equator than in the north, the Sei Whale tends to avoid the polar regions. Once fairly common, the Sei whale is now rarely seen, thanks to heavy whaling in the 1960’s and 1970’s that reduced its population from 250,000 to just over 50,000.
